Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Customers rave about the perfectly cooked chips, often described as crisp and golden. Many highlight the quality of the freshly battered fish, particularly praising the haddock for its flavor and texture.

The mushy peas stand out; while some find them slightly sweet, they enhance the meal nicely for most patrons.

The friendly service from the sisters operating the restaurant garners universal acclaim, making visitors feel welcome instantly.

Affordable prices are a common theme in reviews— diners appreciate getting great value for their money.

The traditional vibe of the cafe, complete with a few seating options, creates a nostalgic feel, appealing to those looking for a genuine chippy experience.

Most Disliked

Some diners mention that the mushy peas, though delicious, might be a touch sweeter than expected. This flavor profile may not suit everyone’s taste, leading to mixed reviews.

The cash-only payment policy can catch some off guard, especially tourists who might not be prepared and may miss out on the experience entirely.

Limited dessert options are noted, as patrons wish for more variety beyond the chocolate nut sundae and peach melba, especially for a perfect finish to their meal.

The seating area might feel a bit cramped during peak lunch hours, making it less ideal for larger groups looking to dine in, despite the warmth of the environment.

Well, I always thought i knew where the best chippy in Scarborough was (the Lifeboat) but it appears I'm wrong.!!. After visiting here i won't be going anywhere else. The mushy peas are gorgeous (although a little sweet for my liking) the chips are cooked to perfection, the curry sauce is stunning and I don't even know where to start on how good the battered haddock is!!!. Without doubt the best fish and chips in my lifetime. I'm not a local but I now know why the people of Scarborough voted this their No 1 chippy.

A Hidden Gem Just Minutes from the Seafront This takeaway is run by two lovely ladies who truly set the bar for professionalism. It is refreshing to see people who take such genuine pride in what they do. The fish and chips are exceptional, full of flavour, perfectly cooked and clearly made with care. A hidden gem.

What a find !! Lovely little fish and chip shop with a few tables as well. A throwback in time. The fish was amazing, cooked to perfection with batter that was light and crisp. I asked for a few scraps, could have ate then on their own. Great prices and wonderful service. Don’t miss this gem.

Best fish and chips I've ever had! Really well fried fish, nicely battered and a generous portion of fantastically edible chips. Would recommend. Friendly, good old fashioned service.

Can't comment on the atmosphere as we stood outside and ate, but the Haddock, chips and peas I ate were excellent. Freshly cooked fish was a good size, fresh and cooked to perfection. Price good too.

Chose this over the coast shops as it's a little bit more residential and it was a great choice. An informal 4-tabled cafe and fish and chip shop with its regulars. Served by a friendly and hard-working lady. All food cooked to order...check out the batter on the cod on the attached picture and the menu. All served on a heated plate. Definitely a place to return to..
